This past February we started demo of our existing kitchen. The existing equipment was obsolete and in need of repair. We received a grant from the Windham Foundation for this project and we started work. Through the hard work of our members we removed the existing equipment and all the cupboards, sink and flooring. Upon removing the flooring we found the floor joists were in bad shape. They are over a 125 years old and new floor joists were installed. From there a new tile floor was installed, new wall covering, new tile behind the stove area and the existing sink reinstalled. A new exhaust hood was installed and electric updated to accommodate the new equipment.
A new stove, griddle, deep fryer, double door refrigerator, double door refrigerator and new stainless steel work tables all donated by Nick and Vicki Malegiannakis owners of the Windham Diner. We thank all who support our efforts to provide a building the community can use and for enabling our post to support our troops and veterans.
